Past Exhibitions
"Bare"
October 22-November 3
“Bare” is a collection of artwork by Island artists that focuses on the complexities of the human condition. This exhibition invites viewers to explore themes of identity, vulnerability, and emotion in a safe public space. Through an unfiltered lens, “Bare” reveals the personal journeys made by each artist by sharing not only their struggles, but their strength and resilience.
The exhibition runs from October 22nd to November 3rd at Blank Canvas Art Supplies during regular store hours, with an opening reception on Monday, October 21st, from 6-8pm. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase during the reception.
"The Really Long Tumble"
October 15-20th
This solo exhibition will feature the Charlottetown-based artist, Sarah Nicole Dart's most ambitious project to date—a 130-foot-long continuous print. The print features 15 different original exposures, taken in an analog format over the course of four hours during one afternoon. The piece will be draped throughout the gallery to encourage viewers to interact with the work.
The Really Long Tumble is a meditation on stress and anxiety. It is a metaphor for the rapid and nonstop pace of modern existence. The exhibit is a visual story encouraging the viewer to walk through, reflect on and get lost in the present moment.
May 14-26, 2024
PaperWorks, a 26-piece art show featuring works by PEI artist Deb Murphy, will be on view at Blank Canvas Art Supplies from May 14–27.
Murphy will present pieces ranging from 4×4” self-contained boxes to 24×36” wall art—all constructed using highly textured and colourful papers. The artist tears, shapes and combines multiple layers of paper to create rich art. Using a binding medium and protective coating, Murphy seals and showcases her unique and innovative creations. All are ready for hanging.
